{life} my dream...

(source)
i'm a big-time dreamer. (aren't we all?) i have always had a big imagination and an idealistic outlook on life. the collage, above, represents my dream life.

one day, i hope to own a shop, selling all sorts of crafty/vintage items. i also dream of becoming a wedding designer. i would travel around in a restored volkswagen bus, decorating peoples' weddings and making sure everything was perfectly beautiful. my bus would have pretty lace curtains inside, and my logo would look like a doily with text in a vintage typewriter font.

my personal life would include romantic evenings at home with the husband, "camping out" in our living room. we would travel, occasionally, and enjoy seeing all sorts of new things.

my home would be a haven, decorated in "granny chic". there would be lots of lacy details and handmade items. we'd be homebodies, much like we are now. and i'd host lovely dinner parties for friends.

of course, this is just my dream. not that reality is a disappointment. i'm a very happy girl. its fun to dream, though. its also important that your goals are in line with what you think would ultimately make you happiest. so a little daydreaming is actually good for you!

what's your dream??

{decor} kitchen love...

I am head over feet in love with this kitchen! (Which I spotted first over here.) I love the bright turquoise walls and the pops of orange. I have always been a fan of black and white checkerboard floors too. This is just an awesome vintage space to me!
*swoon*

Here's a shot of my kitchen cabinets.

The fiancĂ© and I are talking about updating our kitchen/dining room decor. We live in a little apartment in the 'burbs, and have attempted to make it more than a plain vanilla box. (I painted one of our kitchen walls a pretty shade of turquoise, and our living room is gray and yellow.) I've been digging the vintage look a lot these days, and the kitchen above is so inspiring.

We were recently given a table and chairs that we want to paint. I'm thinking of painting the table aqua and each of the chairs a different color. (Kind of inspired by the "Friends" dining table set. I loved Monica's apartment.)

We're a very eclectic couple. Its nice having someone who can appreciate bold colors the way I do.

{inspiration} blue velvet...

There's something about velvet that just feels yummy to me. I remember owning a black velvet dress when I was a little girl. It may have been my favorite. For a long time, I had purple velvet curtains in my bedroom. They were really pretty.

I haven't owned anything velvet in a LONG time, but I'm totally in love with these blue velvet items:

This seems very Boho to me. I love it!

This chair (and actually the wallpaper too) reminds me of a 1950s movie.
Love the beautiful vintage style.

I would totally carry this purse.

One of my favorite bloggers/Etsy shop owners is Laura of Violet Bella. She's gorgeous and I admire her sense of style.
Her jacket rocks!

I used to own a red velvet jacket. I think it was pretty old. I bought it at The Buffalo Exchange in San Francisco. I don't know what I ever did with it, though. (Probably sold it at a garage sale before moving to the big city!)

So now that its spring, and I really don't need a velvet jacket, maybe I can find another at a thrift store or vintage shop. I've been wanting to dress up more, lately. I get tired of wearing a uniform.

Do you love velvet? Or, is there another fabric or style that inspires you?

"Somebody's getting married..."

For anyone who may not have read my previous blog, "Rose Colored Glasses", I have been planning my wedding for this August. I'm so excited. I really want to go with a rustic-woodland theme. I like the idea of using moss and wood slices as decor. One of the very first inspirational posts I came across for the big day was this one, from the site Once Wed. I loved everything from the picnic tables, to the feathers, to the mossy tablescape.

You can also watch a Super-8 video of this wedding theme here

I love that they used sweet peas, the flower for April- my birth month. Getting married in August, however, I think they may be out of season. I may have to splurge and tuck a few into my bouquet, if I can order some from a florist. I'm not having bridesmaids, so I don't have to worry about other bouquets.

I also really love the juxtaposition of all the really elegant crystal and silver with the rustic wood picnic tables, burlap, and moss. I've collected candlesticks and vases over the past few months, that I think will mimic this tablescape. I have to figure out how to be economical, however, because I'm on a very small budget. I may dress one table a bit elaborate, and leave the others more simple.

Shopping second-hand helps a lot, too. I've picked up a lot of my items from thrift stores. I actually love thrifting. Its fun to see what people have discarded, and try to figure out a new use for something.

What are some of your favorite wedding themes?

Hello...

I'm Sabrina. I live in Northern Oregon, in an apartment with my fiancĂ©. I was raised in a small town in Southern Oregon, which I miss very much. I'm an artist of sorts. I like to draw, paint, sew, and do all kinds of crafts. I like to go "thrifting" and rescue discarded items to make new again.

I'm shy and value my privacy. I don't have a large group of friends, but I truly value the ones I do have.

I'm an eclectic girl and like a lot of different things. Some of those things include:

coffee,

jewel tones,
animal print,

antique lace,
anything patina or aged,

copper,
peacock feathers,

and Bohemian style~ clothing and interiors.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea board (and the bright pink walls!).

It was made out of cork placemats.

My life is good. I get to be crafty on a daily basis, and I'm surrounded by good people.
How about you? What makes you happy?
