I have a list of blogs I try to check on a daily basis, and amongst these are several wedding blogs. I love the photos of wedding decor and have been really inspired to incorporate some of what I've found, not only into my wedding plans, but my everyday life too.
One of the things I kinda fell in love with is this "ribbon and fabric chandelier", which I found on the blog, 100 Layer Cake. I think its a great idea that could easily be modified to suit your aesthetic, if you don't like the original look, or to accommodate your supplies.
They used wooden dowels to make the frame of this "chandelier", but you could use an embroidery hoop or other round hoop-type object.
For my wedding, I envision a round chandelier with an attached jar that holds a candle.(Of course, if you're afraid of fire hazards, you could always use an LED candle instead.) The ribbons, fabric, and lace would all be in the same color family: ecru, tan, ivory, and tea-stained. I want to hang mine over the "sweethearts table" where the groom and I will be eating our meal. And if I really got ambitious, I could design one for the inside of the picnic shelter.
Its something I plan on bringing home and reusing after the wedding too. (I would hang it in my craft room.) And, what a great use for old fabric scraps! Another project to add to my list!
