About a year ago, I decided my wardrobe was sufficient and I needed to stop buying new clothes. As a former shopaholic, this should have been a daunting task. However, with all the other things going on in my life, I haven't really missed my former shopping excursions. I now work on my blog or crafts instead of going to the mall.
The only problem I've really come across with not shopping is the boredom I sometimes feel with my wardrobe. Since I wear a uniform to work five days a week, I try not to wear the same colors on my days off. However, I own A LOT of black. I had worked on introducing brighter, prettier colors and prints into my wardrobe before I quit shopping, so that helps a bit.
There's actually a lot you can do to spice up a boring wardrobe. The simplest solution being the use of accessories to define more of a style. You can take a plain white t-shirt and blue jeans, and dress it up with a bright patterned scarf, some cool turquoise earrings, a cuff bracelet, a great bag, and a cool sweater or vest, and you have a stylish Bohemian outfit. If you feel like being a little more preppy, go with an argyle patterned cardigan, some black rimmed glasses, ballet flats, and simpler jewelry.

If you're like me, and you have baskets full of accessories you haven't used in a while, dig through them and start using the really good pieces. You can always take this opportunity to sort through what you may want to donate to charity, as well. Reorganize your closet or dresser drawers and then reward yourself by picking up a few new pieces! (Just remember: for every new item you bring in, get rid of one old item!) You can find cool, inexpensive jewelry or hair clips at accessory boutiques or stores like Target. If you have really strong will power, you can always save up for a designer bag or a piece of fine jewelry. The thing is, its not about quantity. Its about having things that you KNOW you'll use and love.

Thanks, Angie! If I thought about it more often, I'd probably be as addicted to Polyvore as I am to flickr. So much fun playing with clothes.
